Prayer Chain

If you have a special prayer concern or thanksgiving that you would like other members of the church to pray about, you may share your request with the prayer chain. Call Jane Traub at (563) 285-6992 and she will pass the information on to a chain of PVLC prayer warriors. If you would like to participate in this prayer network yourself, she can help you with that, too. Below is a helpful listing of Bible passages to use with your prayers.

121. JOHN 8: 10-11

"Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" "No, one, sir", she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."

122. 1 JOHN 1: 8; 2: 1-2

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness…My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense, Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world."

XVI. For Restoration With Another

123. PSALM 133: 1-3

"How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down upon the collar of his robes. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessings, even life forevermore."

124. MATTHEW 5: 23-24

"Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift."

125. MATTHEW 6: 9, 12, 14-15

"This, then, is how you should pray: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name…Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors." For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."

126. MATTHEW 18: 15-17

"If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector."

127. MATTHEW 18: 21-22

"Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times but seventy-seven times."

128. ROMANS 12: 16a-21

"Live in harmony with one another…Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Don not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written; "It is mine to avenge; I will repay", says the Lord. On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

129. 1 CORINTHIANS 6: 1, 4-7

"If any of you has a dispute with another, dare he take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the saints?…Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, appoint as judges even men of little account in the church. I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers? But instead, one brother goes to law against another-and this in front of unbelievers! The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?

130. GALATIANS 6: 1-2

"Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

131. PHILIPPIANS 4: 2-3a

"I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to agree with each other in the Lord. Yes, and I ask you…help these women who have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel…"

132. COLOSSIANS 3: 12-15

"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful."
