The Lutheran East Side Mission was started so that the Lord and his gifts would be available to ALL people, especially those who live in Davenport's urban east side neighborhoods. The Lutheran East Side Mission exists because God "desires all to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:4)

Bio
The Rev. James and Angela Sharp serve the Lord as missionaries in Puerto Rico. James serves as a pastor and church planter in the San Juan area. He is part of a team serving a new church plant in Bayamón and looking to start another one in Carolina. He preaches, teaches and encourages men and women to be disciples of Jesus Christ. He also serves as an area facilitator in the region, helping to supervise and mentor other missionaries.
Angie is an international educator, and she works with the Lutheran Mission of Puerto Rico to increase evangelism opportunities through education-based outreach initiatives. She plans, directs and implements educational strategies to serve students and their families, as well as teaching English-as-a-Second-Language courses to people of all ages.
James grew up in East Moline, Ill., where his home church is St. John’s Lutheran Church. He graduated from Concordia University Chicago, River Forest, Ill., and Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. While in seminary, he was an exchange student at Seminario Concórdia in São Leopoldo, Brazil. He later taught at Lutheran high schools in Iowa, Illinois and Maryland; served as a parish pastor in Baltimore and Dundalk, Md.; and was a church planter in Uruguay.
Angie grew up in Denison, Iowa, where she attended Zion Lutheran Church and School. She graduated from Concordia University, Nebraska, Seward, Neb., with a Lutheran teacher diploma and a major in secondary education. After graduation, she was a middle and high school teacher at Baltimore Lutheran School, Towson, Md. Before moving to Puerto Rico, she spent 10 years as a missionary teacher at San Pablo Lutheran School in Montevideo, Uruguay. Angie and James have four children: Elias, Ambrose, Callida and Magdalyn.
Prayers
Pray for the Sharps, that their outreach would be effective and that people would be brought to faith in Jesus. Pray also that the Lord would raise up pastors, teachers and other leaders to continue the work the Sharps are beginning. Ask the Lord to be with the Sharp children, as they grow up and transition to a new home — whether that’s in Puerto Rico or on their own.
