Online Fairbooth Work Schedule Now Available

The Mississippi Valley Fair is just around the corner, and that means it’s time for our awesome LYTESHouse Fairbooth to shine again! This is one of our favorite ways to connect with the community, support our high school youth group, and share the Gospel message — and we need your help to make it happen.

Want to join the fun? Sign up for a shift! Grab your family, or a friend, and be part of this faith-filled outreach. Sign up options:

Whether you’re a seasoned booth pro or brand new to the fair scene, we’d love to have you on board. Thanks for being the hands and feet of Jesus in our community — and for making LYTESHouse such a bright spot at the fair!

Special Voters Meeting July 26

The Church will be holding a Special Voters meeting on Sunday July 26th at 10:30am following the morning worship service. This Special Voter’s meeting is being called as the Call Committee has identified three individuals who they believe any one of would be a good fit for the congregation. A selection is needed by the Voter’s to be able to extend a formal Call. This special voters meeting will be limited to the subject for which it has been called. The agenda will be to 1. Approve any new Voting Members, and 2. Review, and vote to extend a Call to one of the presented Pastoral Candidates. Additional information on the call candidates will be provided at the special voters meeting. If you have any questions prior to the meeting, please reach out to the Call Committee Chair: Joshua Elmshaeuser.

We Need YOU... for Sloppy Joe Night this Friday!

LYTES students and families, join us on Friday, July 17th at 6:00 PM for our annual Sloppy Joe Night as we prepare sloppy joe mix for the Mississippi Valley Fairbooth! Many hands make light work, and we truly need the help of our students and families to make this event a success. Come ready to work, serve together, and enjoy some fellowship! Your time and effort directly support the ministry and opportunities that LYTES provides throughout the year. We hope to see everyone there as we work together to support our church and youth ministry!

Family Night this Saturday; Large Yard Games

Join us for Family Night this Saturday, July 18th, from 5:00–7:00 PM for an evening of food, fellowship, fun, and faith! We'll kick things off with an appetizer potluck, so if you're planning to attend, please bring an appetizer or snack to share with the group. After enjoying some time together around the table, we'll gather for a brief devotion and time in God's Word before heading into some friendly competition with our large games. We'll have plenty of games for all ages, including: Bags (Cornhole), Lawnzee (giant yard Yahtzee), Ladder Golf, Giant Jenga, Outdoor Connect Four, Human Tic Tac Toe, and more! Bring your family, invite a friend, and come enjoy an evening of community and summer fun together!

Sunday Bible Study

Do you have questions about our worship or theology — but aren’t sure where to ask them - or a bit shy about doing so? Join us as we watch An Outsider Talks with a Lutheran Theologian, where Pastor Will Weedon answers questions about Lutheran belief, liturgy, and practice. If you’ve ever wondered why we worship the way we do, what makes Lutheran theology unique, or how our confession connects to the ancient Church, this is the perfect session for you. Everyone is welcome — bring your questions! We will meet in the Multi-purpose room after the 9:00 service.

August Community/Church Blood Drive

The ImpactLife Blood Center will conduct our next Community/ Church Blood Drive from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2026 at Park View Lutheran Church.  The blood center is in special need of type O blood both positive and negative. Everyone who is at least 16 years old, weighs at least 110 pounds and is in good health is encouraged to attend. Current donors are eligible if their last whole blood donation was no later than June 23, 2026. Teens who are 16 years old must have a signed parental consent form. Contact Sue Raleigh or the church office 285-9035 to sign up; sign up online at bloodcenter.org or sign up on the table in the fellowship hall.

Secretary on Vacation

Joan will be out of the office from Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 24, 2026.  Bethany will be in the office, however, you should call before stopping by to make sure she isn’t at lunch or running errands.

Attention All Bell Ringers!

We are looking for ringers for the hand chime/bell choir at the Lutheran Living Communities/Davenport Lutheran Home on Sunday, August 2nd. Practice will be at 12:30 p.m. at the nursing home chapel. The service is at 1:30 p.m. If you plan to attend, please email Christine at parrycm@yahoo.com by Sunday, July 26, 2026.

Late Service Communion Washers

The church office is actively seeking new late service communion washers to step forward.  PVLC has had some great losses in our volunteer circle this year. If you have a few minutes after the late service to wash up the communion ware alongside another volunteer, please contact the church office.

Nursery Volunteers for the Upcoming School Year

Wow!  The summer is halfway through, and we need to look ahead for volunteers to staff the nursery during the 9:15 a.m. Sunday School hour for the Sunday School staff.  Many hands and feet make fewer Sundays for you to staff. Please contact Bethany Dorschner or the church office if you’re interested in volunteering.

Thrivent Action Teams Cards

If you are a Thrivent member and have Action Team money due to you, please consider donating to the LYTES fairbooth this year. If you’d like to donate, please contact Jill Grunwald.

Cry Room and Busy Bags Available

We just wanted to remind parents when our smallest congregation members become a little disagreeable that there is a “cry room” and busy bags in the back of the sanctuary.

Member emergencies

If members need to see a Pastor immediately (in case of emergency/death, etc.) we will be asking members to contact the church office. We will also publicize the phone numbers of elders Scott Campbell and Quintin Gerard (contact the church office for those phone numbers).  Once notification has been made, Pastor Kincaid will be contacted. If he is available, he will drive down. If not, an elder may make first contact, or Pastor Kincaid will reach out to Pastor Kent Umbarger, recently retired from St. John’s East Moline, who lives in Bettendorf.

Attendance Cards Reminder

As we continue through this time of a pastoral vacancy, all members and guests are asked to please fill out a yellow attendance card each Sunday morning or Wednesday during Lent. These cards help us accurately track attendance, stay connected as a worshiping community, and help to better support the life of the church. Thank you for your participation and continued faithfulness.

Recorded Worship Services

We will be recording our 8 AM Sunday services and 1 PM Wednesday Lenten services for those who are unable to attend service in person. While nothing replaces gathering together for worship, these recordings are offered as a resource for those who are homebound, traveling, or ill.
