Call Committee Update:

The CALL that was extended by Park View Lutheran Church, to Pastor Matthew Versemann of Decatur, Illinois has been RETURNED to Park View. Pastor Versemann has written a very nice letter of decline that has been posted on the bulletin board in the church and is available for anyone to read. For now, the next steps reside with the Call Committee, conferring with Iowa District East and checking on the availability of other pastoral candidates. Please continue to pray for our congregation, the Call Committee, and our vacancy pastor, Rev. Kristian Kincaid, as we continue to navigate this process and await for the man the Lord will CALL to serve Park View. Any further actions required by the Voter’s assembly will be announced as they become needed.

Sunday Bible Study

Join us after service as we continue our study of the Early Church. This week we explore Paul’s ministry to the Ephesian believers and how God strengthened them through Word and Sacrament. Living in a wealthy, pagan culture filled with spiritual counterfeits, they learned to stand firm in Christ’s truth and live out their baptismal identity.

Church Office Closed

The church will be closed Monday, September 7 for the Labor Day Holiday.

The Great Chili Cook-Off!

Join us on *Sunday, September 27 at 5:00 PM for a fun evening of chili, fellowship, and a little friendly competition! Come hungry and enjoy tasting all the delicious chili creations, or put your cooking skills to the test and enter your own chili in the cook-off!

**Sign up on the kiosk to let us know you’re coming and/or if you’d like to be a chili contestant. We hope you’ll join us for a great night together!

Confirmation Classes

We begin weekly Wednesday Confirmation classes tomorrow, September 2, at 6:00 p.m.

LYTES Meeting

The LYTES will meet Wednesdays, September 2nd, 16th and 30th at 6:00 p.m. here at church.

2026-2027 Sunday School Teachers/Co-Teachers Needed

We are actively looking for a Kindergarten – 2nd grade Teacher/Co-Teacher. If you are interested in this rewarding ministry please see Bethany Dorschner, Melissa Drummond or Kim Cronkelton.

Upcoming Events

Fall Worship Begins: after Labor Day. We go back to 8 & 10:30am services on Sunday, September 13th.

Summer Worship Ends: Our last Thursday worship service is at 7pm on September 3rd and final Sunday worship service at 9:00am is September 6th.

Sunday School Rally Day: Sunday, September 13th at 9:15am as we continue to celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday. Presentation of Bibles to our 3rd Graders and Installation of Sunday School Teachers.

Sunday School/Bible Study: Regular classes begin Sunday, September 20 at 9:15am.

Cry Room and Busy Bags Available

We just wanted to remind parents when our smallest congregation members become a little disagreeable that there is a “cry room” and busy bags in the back of the sanctuary.

Member emergencies

If members need to see a Pastor immediately (in case of emergency/death, etc.) we will be asking members to contact the church office. We will also publicize the phone numbers of elders Scott Campbell and Quintin Gerard (contact the church office for those phone numbers).  Once notification has been made, Pastor Kincaid will be contacted. If he is available, he will drive down. If not, an elder may make first contact, or Pastor Kincaid will reach out to Pastor Kent Umbarger, recently retired from St. John’s East Moline, who lives in Bettendorf.

Attendance Cards Reminder

As we continue through this time of a pastoral vacancy, all members and guests are asked to please fill out a yellow attendance card each Sunday morning or Wednesday during Lent. These cards help us accurately track attendance, stay connected as a worshiping community, and help to better support the life of the church. Thank you for your participation and continued faithfulness.

Recorded Worship Services

We will be recording our 8 AM Sunday services and 1 PM Wednesday Lenten services for those who are unable to attend service in person. While nothing replaces gathering together for worship, these recordings are offered as a resource for those who are homebound, traveling, or ill.
