Sunday School for Kids

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”

- Matthew 19:14 (ESV)

Here at Park View Lutheran, we offer Sunday School for Kids ages Preschool- High School! We've created a fun learning environment, where all are welcomed, and Christ is honored!

At Sunday School, children grow in Christ as they learn the major stories of the Old and New Testaments. They see how God weaves His plan of salvation in Christ through the lives of ordinary men, women and children. The heart and center of the Bible is Jesus Christ, our Savior from sin, death and the devil. Through weekly lessons and activities we receive Jesus’ love and mercy so that we may face each day with joy, faith, confidence and hope in our living God.

Where and When

Sunday School for 3 year-olds through High School meets in the Lower Level from 9:15-10:15 am. Students meet at the Sunday School altar before class for opening prayer, song, offerings, and to celebrate birthdays. Rally Day is the “kick-off” for the new Sunday School year. A special service and program is normally planned for the Sunday after Labor Day.

Sunday School is held year round, except on select holidays and other special church events. The Sunday School Christmas Service normally takes place at the 10:30 am service on the third Sunday of December. Children practice their lines and songs on the previous 3-4 Saturday mornings before the service. Our children sing on other selected Sundays of the school year as well.

LYTES Youth Group

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

-John 8:12 (ESV)

L.Y.T.E.S. stands for “Lord’s Youth Touching Everyone Spiritually.”

This group of high school youth get together on Wednesday nights for devotion in God’s Word, prayer, Christian service, games, and fellowship.

They meet on Wednesday nights in the LYTES room. The LYTES also enjoy leading worship services on the fifth Sunday of the month, leading the popular Good Friday service of darkness, going on trips such as the National Youth Gathering, and serving meals during Advent, Lent, and on Easter Sunday.

The LYTES and members of the congregation raise money for youth activities by participating in our annual fundraiser at the Mississippi Valley Fair. For over 30 years we have run a food stand, serving hungry fair-goers from 6:30 am to 11 pm each day. The “LYTES House” was reconstructed by generous volunteers in 2012. Please consider working a shift or baking cookies for this worthwhile cause!

For information on the National Youth Gathering this year, check out our LCMS National Youth Gathering section under “News and Events”

Adult Opportunities

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

-Romans 8:28 (ESV)

Adult Bible Study

Sunday Mornings:   9:15-10:15  am

Men's Bible Study

On Tuesday mornings from 6:30-7:30 am guys get together for coffee, donuts and Bible study. All men are welcome to come and join our "Band of Brothers!" Pastor leads a casual study through a book of the Bible. It's a great way to begin the day.

Women's Bible Study

On Thursday mornings from 9:30-10:30 am women gather in the multipurpose room for a time of fellowship, sharing prayer requests, and studying God's Word. Pastor leads in-depth classes on various topics or books of the Bible. All women are welcome to come!

Women Reaching Out (W.R.O.)

The women of our congregation are invited to monthly Bible studies hosted by W.R.O. They also host a post-Christmas party in January and a Salad Supper in July where a guest speaker is invited to share a mission topic.

The W.R.O. is affiliated with the L.W.M.L. (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League). For more information about this National organization, check out their website. One of the missions of the LWML is to raise money for mission projects through “Mite Boxes.” Based on the Biblical account of the poor widow who gave two small copper coins in the temple (Mark 12:41-44), members are encouraged to place their pennies, nickels, dime and quarters into these little boxes when they are displayed in the fellowship hall.
